Description
White Labs WLP002 English Ale Yeast is a classic ESB strain from one of England’s largest independent breweries (believed to be Fuller’s). While traditionally used for English-style ales including milds, bitters, porters, and stouts, it’s also ideal for American-style pale ales and IPAs. This strain features very high flocculation resulting in brilliantly clear beer with some residual sweetness that accentuates malt character along with mild fruity esters adding complexity to flavor and aroma. Due to high flocculation, yeast has a very clumpy appearance in package. Technical specs: fermentation temperature range of 18-20°C (65-68°F), apparent attenuation of 63-70%, very high flocculation, medium alcohol tolerance 5-10% ABV, STA1 negative. Slight diacetyl production is common. Beer finishes clear and yeast can easily be harvested for future use. Lower attenuation profile leaves residual sweetness perfect for malt-forward English ales. PurePitch Next Generation packaging contains 150 billion cells. White Labs’ #2 best-selling yeast strain.
