Here is the report from the homebrew competition organizers:
We had another great turnout this year for our third annual LCBF homebrew competition and surpassed the amount of entries from last year! Two rounds of judging were held; during the first round, groups of judges narrowed the list down to twenty beers based on their average score. Those twenty beers selected during the first round were then scored by all judges to narrow the list down to the top ten beers. There are a lot of very talented home brewers in the area, and the scores were so close, that we wish we were able to pick more than ten!
Without further ado, below are the top ten beers, and their respective homebrewers. These beers will be on tap at the 2016 Lititz Craft Beer Fest, and undergo a third round of voting round of voting which will be conducted by you, the people.
Matthew Kupchinsky – Hop! In the Name of Love
Craig Fahnestock & Mike Baer – Hazy Shade of Summer
Brian Wagner – Red Craic
Tim Myers – Melon Felony
Chris Harvey & Caitlin Miletto – Maple Bacon Coffee RIS
Derek Wolf, Brad Moyer & Dean Pierce – Yuzu Session Milkshake IPA
Mike Adair – Blood Orange Wheat
Ryan Foltz & Sam Son – Goin’ Broke IPA
John Scanlon – Slice of Life/Blood Orange
Matt Topper – Moral Dilemma
All top 10 finalists will receive two free tickets, 50% off homebrew supplies from Lancaster Homebrew (for the competition only) plus the opportunity to win one of the many other awesome prizes! Each finalist will be notified, individually, by the end of the weekend. The judge’s vote will be announced the day of the event. Get brewing!
